And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you *good news* of *great joy* that will be for *all the people*. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a *Savior*, who is *Christ the Lord*." (Luke 2:10-11)

I'm afraid evangelical leaders are exchanging the good news of the gospel for a focus on the supposed sins of others. And if anyone dares to point this out, the worst imaginable assumptions are made concerning that person's character. I hear little about the hope of redemption.

How can the gospel, which is definitionally 'good news,' "become" *bad* news for anyone? It cannot. The gospel is propositional truth. The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our sins. Christian leaders can blow about, but the gospel does not change.

Also, I'll take the opportunity to post this Escher piece called "Three Worlds" - which is what sprang to my mind as I was snapping those pics of the pavement. I thiiink it's my favourite piece by him? At least one of my favourites.

Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression;
bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause. (Isaiah 1:16-17, ESV)

RT @NeilShenvi@twitter.com Believing the claims of kind, sincere people is not a good heuristic for determining truth. Sooner or later, you'll meet a kind, sincere person who believes what is false and then you'll be in trouble.

This quote applies to so many situations in life, not just programming:

The nice thing about taking most of December off is you get most of December off. The sad thing about taking most of December off: it's December.

On the bright side; the best holiday in America is next week. The last vestige of Puritanism in America is joined by all our pagan friends in giving gratitutde to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob for all our blessings.

In many ways it is an irony of ironies that Black Fiday follows such a day.

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but there absolutely _needs_ to be a federated version of GitHub/GitLab.

Let me host my projects' critical infrastructure (issue tracker, PRs, private repos etc) on my own servers, while also being able to interact and socialize with the rest of the open source world.

I'll keep saying this until someone builds it - I would do it myself if I had enough time on my hands right now.

I really loved working on this commissioned illustration. It pushed me artistically in so many ways.

The U.S.Constitution as written stipulated that:

"The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative;"

If we followed that rule we would have almost 11,000 representatives today. That alone would break the duopoly and might break the neck of whoever is running this mess.

Abortion proponents use nothing but language. That is quite literally the point of abortion advocacy - to dehumanize human fetuses so that murdering them for convenience can be considered a justifiable activity, and even something worthy of praise.
